MAGNETOMETERS AND FLUXGATE MEASUREMENT
"The Fluxgate Element is used to detect or measure the strength of a spatial magnetic field in which it operates.

These sophisticated elements are manufactured in five standard types, and are installed in multiples of 2, 4 or 8 units."

To measure simultaneously two mutually perpendicular components of a field, a matched pair of components
may be used.

If you wish to measure a two-axis system, matched sets of four elements can be supplied. These elements are used in
applications such as :

* direction indication in the transmitting magnetic compass
* flaw indication in metals- physical characteristics of
metals (e.g. thickness)
* vehicle counting in traffic systems
* detection of dangerous metal particles in products
such as soap
* attitude and azimuth control in guided weapons

Technical

In principle there are two windings, one receiving a small AC input current, the second produces an output proportional
to the axial component of the magnetic field.
